Shikai:
The release phrase for Captain Hisao Bishamon Shumamuryu's Zanpakuto is "Swarm, and consume everything before you". When released, Ishuu Kagerou grows tremendously in size and form from its sealed ring/tanto state. The release of this weapon also causes an immense amount of Shumamuryu's unique, purple, "toxic" spiritual pressure to envelope an enormous radius around him for a brief moment after release. This can cause all those within the dome of purple haze to experience burning of the skin and eyes, and even severe burns and blisters, if their own spiritual pressure is not powerful enough. after being released, the Zanpakuto shows the liveliness of its spirit much more so than most other Zanpakutos with its organic structure. When preparing for a fight, the eyes can be seen greedily inspecting Shumamuryu's opponents and hissing.
Shikai Special Ability:
Upon release, Ishuu Kagerou sheds its original short range functionality and becomes a long-range, spear/guard combination weapon. Its spear aspect takes on an insect-like appearance, complete with vicious mandibles and a stinger on the spear, and extremely hard chitin plating forms over the guard aspect. Shumamuryu can swing the weapon with surprising ease, almost as if it weighed the same as its sealed form, and can apply enough force to level a city block with ease. The hand guard is designed specifically for ultimate defense, easily being able to stop a blow from Kempachi Zaraki.
"Baneful Feast of Scorpions"- This is the most commonly used move of Shumamuryu's Shikai. when the spear aspect of the weapon sees an opportunity to sink its teeth into an opponent, the jaws snap shut and pumps Shumamuryu's venom-like Reiatsu into the wound. this poison causes the victim to experience extreme pain whenever Reiatsu is released or muscles are tensed until the Zanpakuto is sealed.
"Wingless Hunt of the Dragonfly"- Once it has either absorbed enough Reiatsu from its opponent or Shumamuryu has charged it with enough of his own, the spear aspect of the Zanpakuto can burn the energy like fuel and pursue targets at extreme speeds.
"Golden Scarab Discharge Armor"- By first absorbing a sample of an opponent's Reiatsu with his Zanpakuto's spear aspect through a successful "bite", Shumamuryu can focus it into his guard aspect. This allows the gauntlet to grow accustomed to the opponent's spiritual pressure, making the enemy's next blocked attack almost useless, no matter how much force and Reiatsu they put behind it.
