Nix-Hounds are common predators found throughout Morrowind. An adult hound weighs around 100-120 pounds and has rusted red, chitin armor covering most of its soft, tan flesh. Even though they look like canines, Nix-Hounds arent even mamals. They are actually an extremely advanced form of insect, having moved from tendon and chemical based movement, to musclular formation.

In the wild, Nix-Hounds hunt in three packs of eight, all surrounding the den and their queen(or den mother). Nix-Hounds usually try to bring down Guars, but will attack Alits and even lone Kagouti. As soon as prey is spotted, they begin the chase and force the prey into a circular formation. The lead hound then lunges for the creaatures throat, injecting it with venom, while the others claw at the legs and stomach. The meat is then stored in the den for later feedings.

Nix-Hounds have also been used as domesticated animals in Morrowind, specifically by House Redoran. Queens are bred in captivity and the young are taken and trained to guard Redoran settlements and search for enemy units hiding in the Ashlands.
